CO2 injection is not required but recommended for faster growth
Appearance
It is characterised by fast, compact growth and small, intense green leaves on vertical stems. The plant is carpet-forming (5-10 cm tall) and its compact growth can be promoted by physically pressing the carpet with your hand when maintaining your aquarium.
Growth rate
Hydrocotyle Tripartita can be grown as an emersed plant if the humidity is maintained. The humidity level is especially important after the initial planting. Once they are rooted, they will grow aggressively. This is true, especially when they are planted on a substrate that is rich in nutrients.
Lighting
It grows in moderately low to medium levels of aquarium light. If the lighting in the tank is low, the plant may increase its vertical growth. Medium to high light conditions will result in lush growth.
Placement
Hydrocotyle Tripartita is best for growing as a carpeting plant as it hugs the foreground and sends out runners on a regular basis.
Attachment
Hydrocotyle Tripartita can be attached to driftwood and other hardscapes as well. They can be secured on or in between hardscapes within the aquarium. This is a great way of creating a natural aquascape. Hydrocotyle Tripartita can also be grown as a floating plant.
Algae
Hydrocotyle Tripartita is susceptible to algae growth. To prevent algae from overtaking the plant, it is crucial to maintain a proper balance of light, nutrients, and CO2. Regular water changes, maintaining a clean aquarium, and using algae-eating fish or invertebrates can also help control algae growth.
