Product Details

  • It requires intensive light and the addition of CO2 to grow well

Appearance

  • A fast-growing, highly adaptable stem plant known for its long, flowing, tentacle-like leaves, which give it the nickname "Octopus." Its bright green, narrow leaves sway gracefully in the water, making it a dynamic and eye-catching addition to any planted aquarium.

Growth rate

  • Fast growing - Medium to high lighting will help maintain its fast grow rate.

Lighting

  • Proper lighting is crucial for the growth of Pogostemon Stellatus 'Octopus'. This plant requires moderate to high light intensity to thrive. Provide it with at least 6 to 8 hours of light per day. Consider using full-spectrum LED or fluorescent lights to meet its lighting needs.

Placement

  • Pogostemon stellatus ‘Octopus’ is typically used as a background or midground plant due to its tall, flowing nature.

Planting

  • Use planting tweezers or your fingers to plant each stem deeply, at least 2 to 3 inches into the ground.
  • The substrate may cover some of the bottom leaves.
  • Don't plant the stem plants all in a single bunch but rather individually with a little space between so that the roots have some room to grow.

Algae

  • Pogostemon stellatus 'Octopus' can help with algae control in an aquarium. Its fast-growing nature allows it to outcompete algae for nutrients in the water, helping to reduce algae growth.
