Appearance

• A visually striking aquatic plant with delicate, serrated leaves that can vary in color from green to orange and even red, depending on light and nutrient conditions. It has a feathery, fern-like texture underwater and more typical leaf shapes when emerged.

Growth rate

• Mermaid weed (Proserpinaca palustris) has a moderate growth rate. It's not a fast grower, but it can become a large plant over time

Lighting

• Requires medium to high lighting to thrive and display its best colors.

Placement

• Best used as a midground or background plant in an aquarium, depending on the tank's size.

Planting

• Remove the plant from its container, taking care not to damage the roots.
• Remove any rock wool or other packaging material around the roots.
• Gently rinse the roots under tap or dechlorinated water to remove any debris.
• Use tweezers or similar tools to carefully insert the plant stems into the substrate.
• Plant each stem individually, leaving some space between them to allow for root growth.
• Plant the stems deep enough so that the substrate may cover some of the bottom leaves.

Algae
